We welcome you to our adventures!B.Sinclairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13464311875131455863noreply@blogger.comBlogger51125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-6022748659124337982012-01-28T09:15:00.003-07:002012-01-28T09:41:39.841-07:00January 2012Happy New Year! I'm only 28 days late, but thought I should at least get it out of my system and share with everybody.

Quick update on everyone:
Amanda is a Junior and love'n it. Sweet sixteen, driving, dances, enjoys play a couple different kinds of instruments among many others extracurricular activities.

Aysia is in 4th grade and thinks she must be the class friend to everyone--especially when new students join and don't have friends themselves. She's ten going on sixteen because she hangs with her older sister all the time. Cooking is her new talent shes been exploring under her moms supervision. Sometimes she can be quite the little brat girl too.

Aidan is in 2nd grade and has lots of 'girl' friends. If he's not running from girls trying to kiss him during recess, he is usually home constantly building his various Spyro Skylander characters playing the Wii. He is always "bored" his there is nobody to play with him.

Alec is in kindergarten and seems to enjoy going to school each day. He is our couch potato child that loves to sneak food into the family room while watching his cartoons. He tends to be the brute of the family when his not whining about something that doesn't go his way.

We are now proud parents/guardian of a high school teenager, Taylor. We managed to convince Rebecca's sister, Elizabeth, to allow Taylor to come and stay with us for the second half on her sophomore year. If everything works out with her here and she performs well in school, we might be able to convince her mother to let her stay her junior and senior years. Taylor is sixteen and likes to drive when given the chance. Unfortunately, we're trying to work what options are available with auto insurance. with Amanda nearby, both girls get an opportunity to see each other more and are talking about potential double dates with various boys from school and around the neighborhood.Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-63540818708475726022011-08-26T22:20:00.001-06:002011-08-26T22:20:01.445-06:00August 2011Just a quick update. The first week of this past month the family and I packed our bags and went on vacation to visit parts of South Dakota and Wyoming. In particular we visited Custer, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, and Yellowstone. It was pretty cool to see the rich history associated with surround states.
I'll post some pics shortly.
School just started this past week for Aysia and Aidan. Next week Alec will go to kindergarten. Becca's preschool starts the week after Labor Day weekend.Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-45159939642635241842011-01-05T00:58:00.004-07:002011-01-05T01:23:19.101-07:00More October DC Pics<img style="float: right; A rather short trip, but we managed to squeeze just about everything one could do in just a few short days.

Our trip began with Rebecca and I catching a red eye flight Thursday morning at 12:50AM from SLC to Altanta, GA. From there we flew on to Baltimore, MD and arrived sometime around 9:30 AM (EST). We then took Amtrax to Union Station, Washington DC where we decided to begin our adventure of touring DC's monuments.

Our first stop, after purchasing an umbrella, was to the US Capital Building. Here we browsed a gift shop and found interest in the First Ladies Cook Book, a cool looking signature tie, and other trinkets. Later we toured the Capital building and took lots of pictures of various rooms and artifacts.

With our tummies growling for food we quickly strolled through the Library of Congress until we could find someone to direct us to some good local eateries.

Next on the agenda was the great "erection" as my wife says. Otherwise known as the Washington Monument. In asking the best way to see the monument, someone from the Library of Congress suggested that we take the subway system and get off at the Smithsonian stop. So, that's exactly what we did. The Washington Monument is a lot taller in person than I imagined. I especially liked seeing the circle of American flags flying in the wind and surrounding the monument itself. A pretty awesome sight to see firsthand.

With the Lincoln Memorial in sight, we decided to work our way that direction by passing by the White House then on to the Vietnam Wall. The White House is another favorite site of mine. As we were approaching, Washington PD closed the walkway to prepare for President Obama to caravan somewhere from the White House. It's amazing to see just how many black vehicles, police escort, and ambulance personnel traveling along the President. I heard somewhere once that when the President travels there is a cell phone dead zone airspace. In the caravan of suburbans there were at least two of them with weird looking devices on top of them that probably had something to do with jamming local phone signals. Pretty rad.

Minutes after the President left the White House, Washington DC police and Secret Service opened the walkway allowing pedestrians to pass by and look at the southern (I think) view of the house were the water fountain resides. As we were taking lots of pictures I paid close attention to the yard, particularly in the tree line and bushes and I saw some gadgets the Secret Service must use to detect and alert of trespassing visitors. Also pretty rad.

With our feet extremely exhausted, we pushed forward to the Vietnam Wall and found my dads name, Delbert Leo Singler, Jr., engraved on panel 30, line 30. Although I never met my father, I had to man-up and hold back the emotions. So many names...!

Anybody remember the remake of Planet of the Apes? When Becca and I walked up and into the memorial I was sort of looking forward to seeing a monkey-faced Lincoln sitting in his chair, then having a squad of police officers apes pull up along side the building and demand our arrest for getting out of our lab cages. Well, just being there with Becca is totally awesome.

By this time it was around 5:30PM and we were anxiously waiting for Taunie and James flight to come in and have them come pick us up in their car rental. Becca was desperately hacking up her lungs from a cold she has been battling for several days and I'm certain her feet were just as sore as mine, so we rested for about an hour. Later we decided to head the nearest subway entrance and work our way to Arlington National Cemetery where we were to meet the Anderson's. It's a good thing they were waiting for us when we exited the nearly empty subway system. I heard years ago that DC is actually a dangerous place to be in at night.Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-36888426221788627082010-07-03T00:53:00.001-06:002010-07-03T00:53:27.619-06:00Los VegasRebecca and I are in Los Vegas together for the weekend. It just so happens to be our 11th anniversary and we had a voucher to stay in Vegas for three nights. This time of year the temperature is around 103 degrees fahrenheit. It actually doesn't feel too bad.
We've purchased tickets to see Cirque du Solei Ka tomorrow evening. I really like the soundtrack and I'm especially excited that we'll be seeing it together.
More to come later.Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-89216979401901762722010-06-13T19:46:00.002-06:002010-06-13T20:50:08.751-06:00Aysia and Aidan Visit WyomingJune 5th - June 11th, Aysia and Aidan spent time with their cousins, Taylor and Takoda, in Ryan Park, Wyoming (near Saratoga Springs). For the most part our children report that they had a good time. Unfortunately Elizabeth (a workaholic) worked more than she promised and the weather seemed too rainy to play outside much, still the kids managed to keep themselves entertained.

A few years ago Ron and Elizabeth decided that their happiness together meant that they live the lifestyle taken from the Cowboy era. Elizabeth sold her home in Mountain Green, Utah and moved to Saratoga Springs, WY with Ron, her husband, and their two younger children, Taylor and Takoda, until they could build a log home for themselves in Ryan Park almost a year later. Ryan Park is a small community of log homes, a couple of mini mart stores, and a fire station with year round local attractions as snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, boating and all terrain vehicles. There are schools in the region but take at least an hours bus drive to reach each day and with neighbors and local towns distant from one another, having children to play with is only a favorite pastime. Therefore, having Aysia and Aidan there to visit for the week becomes a real treat for their children. It also exposes our children to something other than television, video games, radio stations, crowded stores and traffic hour.Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-4253240059738684762010-06-13T18:47:00.005-06:002010-06-13T21:03:57.740-06:00Rebecca's Surprise Birthday PartySince my last update, we were all preparing to celebrate Rebecca's 40th birthday. To begin, we were fortunate to be invited to Gad and DeAnn's on Wednesday to have a delightful and scrumptious dinner. Then, on Thursday we spontaneously decided to eat downtown Gateway at Z'Tejas, a southwestern grill. Immediately following dinner we hurried home to share cake and ice cream with her parents.

Although these couple of days seem rather uneventful, this was purposely planned so that a surprise birthday party on Saturdays wouldn't be suspected. In fact, I had mentioned to Rebecca that we would be going on our date night Saturday evening and that I had already arranged for the children to eat dinner at Gramee's house. So when the time came we all hopped into our vehicle and preceded to Gramee's. Rebecca's immediately learned of our plans when she saws multiple cars parked along the street side. Rebecca isn't one to draw attention to herself and to have a party on her behalf, she almost didn't want to get out of the car. Luckily she conceded and we all ultimately had a very good time.

Taunie Anderson, Rebecca's closest family-friend was very helpful in organizing the entire party. I was adamant on having the party catered and I previously learned that Rebecca's preference was to have a "fiesta." This means both a "party" and suggestive of a Mexican cuisine. So...after several days of research to see if anyone catered Mexican food and to be safe enough to eat without incident, the Red Iguana came to the rescue. Killer Nacho Grande, Chile Verde, Chicken Enchiladas, black beans, Spanish rice, and corn and flour tortillas were on the menu. Dessert included cake, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. If anyone walked away hungry it was their fault since we had so much food leftover.

I must admit that I was pretty worried about the weather this particular day too. For some nonsensical reason I had assumed it would be a hot and summer day but, in fact it was a rainy and cold day. Luckily for Christmas we were given a patio heater that proved very beneficial.

All in all the party was a success and I think Rebecca has since forgiven me for something she says she really didn't want. I hope I can keep up with preschool - college courses - and family life this year. I have enjoyed attending the temple this December. I have had the opportunity to go to the Oquirrh, Draper and American Fork temples while Jordan River has been closed for the annual cleaning. I love the temple.

My niece Tatum has come to stay with us while she attends UofU. She is fun to have around. The kids adore her - almost too much! They may drive her to get her own place!

Billy still has his love/hate relationship with the molecular Dept at IMC. We sure wish his supervisor would decide to retire! It's nice that the hospital is so close to home.

My beautiful children are growing up TOO fast. Aysia is turning into a beautiful young lady. She was recently baptized in September. She loves jewelry, make-up and designer clothes (Ahh-she not even a teen yet!) Aidan loves Kindergarten and anything video game related. He has become great friends with his cousin Adison. Alec is a handful. I adore the naughty little guy! He keeps me on my toes! I think Peanut (our puppy) will be house trained before Alec stops being stubborn and decides to use the toilet! Amanda is a teenager. Loves her friends. I wish Taylor lived closer, we'd see Amanda a lot more. She asked for a guitar for Christmas and is very excited to learn to play it. Aysia also has a small guitar and would like to take lessons. Adian should take culinary classes and Alec is my artist. So fun to watch them grow and learn. To see their personalities blossom.

Well - Here's a toast to 2010...Hope it's a successful and Happy NEW YEAR!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-66503535313525613492009-12-02T21:57:00.004-07:002009-12-02T22:06:06.483-07:00Annual Rivalry GameCourgars' win 26-23 over the Running Utes.

Very nice! Especially if you're not a super duper Ute fan.

When TCU thumped on BYU a few weeks ago I heard overzealous Ute fans trash BYU big time. Any TCU possession and any mistakes by BYU was immediately followed with lots of cheer. Yet tonight, while enjoying dinner with my wife at Legends (downtown Salt Lake), there wasn't a whole lot of celebration going on. All the bragging was put to a halt in just few short minutes of the start of the ball game.

Supporting my Cougars, I ensured my loyalty by wearing my birthday present given to me by Amanda--a BYU hoody. As I entered and passed through Legends towards the back room, I couldn't help but notice the silence in the room as I walked passed the sea of red jerseys everywhere. Then, someone from a far yelled out "BYU Suck". I turned, smiled widely and said, "Go TCU." Just after halftime the bar began to look desolate. Bah ha ha ha...!

I certainly like any Utah team who wins but, when Ute fans bash BYU for no apparent reason other than pure hatred, I can't help but laugh out loud. Especially when these fans rationalize and blame everything and everyone else for their loss.

Kudos to the 4th ranked TCU football team. They played like champions.
Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-1358077811287240672009-11-12T21:22:00.003-07:002009-11-12T21:53:43.612-07:00November 12, 2009Just a quick update on life.

Becca is working long and hard hours between teaching preschool, raising the kiddies and going to school herself. The light at the end of the tunnel doesn't come around until mid December sometime.

Amanda, Aysia and Aidan are enjoying school thus far. Becca and I have been impressed to see the progression they're making and enjoy seeing much of the creative artwork they bring home to share with us. Aysia and Aidan are still trying to learn the concept of doing homework before playing. Makes me wonder how far in life I could have gone had I done the same thing back in day.

Little Alec is the energizer battery! He enjoys participating in preschool on Tuesday's and Thursday's then off and plays at Taunie's Monday, Wednesday and Friday's. He is defiant to do and see things his way. He can be quite the menace from time to time. We love our kids so very much.

A new addition to our family is little Peanut. She's approximately a twelve week old teacup schnauzer with liver party colors. Max is no longer alone and soon to be madly in love--he just doesn't know it yet. Lets hope he gets lucky this time and finally earn his keep. He has only survived this long because he continues to fertilize our backyard trees.

Me? Nah...nothing interesting there. Work, eat and sleep is the name of the game.

Happy soon to be Thanksgiving Holiday to all.

Condormanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06108968323118928591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-60776232129471817122009-10-24T17:27:00.008-06:002009-10-24T18:15:47.203-06:00

ALEC
<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; She shared a story her father told her the day before about a Pioneer ancestor who had lived a life full of difficult challenges. Becca specifically mentioned how thankful she was for the blessings she enjoys each day--our children, our family. Instead of worrying about the her own challenges in life that may not surmount to those challenges of her ancestor, she's "...counting her blessings..." for things worthwhile.

After Becca returned from the stand, Aysia built up the courage to bare her testimony for the very first time. So danty and nearly all grown up at age seven, Aysia confidently stood at the pulpit and told the crowd she knew the Church was true and that she loved her Mom and Dad. Wow...I'm still smiling. It's occasions like these that reinforces the importance of the gospel in each of our lives--totally priceless!B.Sinclairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13464311875131455863noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-15458168445348175712009-02-09T00:17:00.010-07:002009-02-09T00:54:49.401-07:00Draper Temple Open HouseThis past weekend I, Bill, have reached a milestone birthday and have officially began counting down on what birthdays I may have remaining (just kidding). My good friends Bruce T., Jay L., and John P., took me out for night of BBQ bliss to a place called Pat's, in your face, BBQ located in South Salt Lake City. There are some pretty good eats there!

Another highlight of mine this past weekend of celebration was the opportunity to take the family to the new Draper (UT) Temple Open-house. I recommend all who can visit this building to do so from now until March 14th. The craftsmanship and design of the inside and outside are astonishing--very Celestial. We very much enjoyed our visit. The children really liked the cookie snacks available at the end of our visit too. He must have nine lives...and I'm not sure how many he's used up already!

On January 4th, he undoubtedly retired one.

Sunday evening Billy went with Aysia to see Grandma Boam and take her some rice pudding. I was in the hall looking in the closet for some medication when I heard both my boys scream. Adian only once, but Alec kept screaming. It's one of those that you know something is really wrong. A terrified and pained scream. I ran to the family room, and Alec was already running to me still terrified and crying. He jumped into my arms and was shaking all over. I asked him what happened. He showed me his hand, the palm was completely black, but wouldn't say anything. He was crying and even though I was holding him he acted like he couldn't get close enough, like he wanted to climb inside me. But, I couldn't get a thing out of him. Aidan finally pointed behind the couch and said he was back there. When I looked behind the couch I almost had a heart attack myself. Which in turn set Alec into histerics again. What I saw was a key hanging out of the electrical socket, and all around it the wall was black. My devil child tried to electricute himself.

I quickly took him into the kitchen to clean his hand off and run it under cold water; so I could see how bad it was. His ring and pinky fingers had big blisters on them. And one blister one his palm just under his ring finger. I made a bucket of ice water and made him soak it while I called Billy.

Alec's bandaged hand

Billy had said just days before when we both kept telling him to stop playing with the plug to the space heater, that "...he's going to end up learning his lesson the hard way". Which at the time gave me a terrible feeling of forboding.

What's left of the keys - notice I can no
longer drive the jeep with this one!

The key ring that the keys had been on was melted through. He was lucky to have only used one hand to insert the keys one at a time. What we have put together with my dad's help is that he put in the first key (all metal) and the second key followed (which had a rubber cover on the top). When he put the second key in, it arched and fried his hand; giving him a good a zing I'm sure. He let go and only the fingers that were not holding the rubber part of the key ended up blistered, but the whole thing was black!

If he had put both keys in at the same time, one in each hand, the current would have travelled up his arm, through his chest and down the other arm. Most likely this would have stopped his heart. I would have found him 5-10 minutes later when I went looking for him. Because he's never quiet for long, unless he's getting into trouble.

He likes playing with my keys. I have the keyless entry on mine. He likes to set off the alarm. Now... I keep my keys up on a cupboard above the stove. So luckily the stove wasn't in use, and hadn't been for a few hours. Because he climbed up to get them first. And instead of setting off the car, he decided to hide behind the couch and stick them into those curious holes in the wall!

Aysia and Aidan showing off Aysia's snow flake.

Remember Billy had a cold over New Years? Well, I felt like I was coming down with a cold Wednesday evening. I figured it was my turn for Billy's stupid cold. But on Thursday I had a parent of one of my students call to say her daughter had strep. She had been to class on Wednesday, but was sick on Thursday. Well, my symptoms got worse, and Billy insisted on testing me for strep. So he went into work Friday afternoon to put in some over time on a special project and tested my specimen. It came back with a faint positve. When he got home I went to Instacare and it was confired. I have strep. The symptoms at this point were getting a lot worse. I could hardly swallow for the pain. I now have antibiotics and am a bit better. I hope the whole pre-k doesn't end up coming down with it; also Taunie's family. I spent a few minutes there on Friday after pre-k when I went down to pick-up Alec. I would hate to be the cause of an outbreak! Well, it started with my student, but I ignored my symtoms thinking they was something less.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Alec may not get you with the bullets, but he will likely whack you over the head with the gun if you get to close.

Billy and I had planned to go to a New Year's Eve party later that night. The kids were going to have a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Billy had to work New Year's Day at 6:00 am and he had been fighting a cold. So he decided he was too tired and wanted to go home to sleep.
Alec was showing his true self that night. He's usually a little better in public. You know... for me, he is a menace!
My dad was getting a kick out of watching him. I said, "Laugh it up, he's going home with you!" EMPTY THREAT! We didn't go to the party, so he came home with ME!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411958195609467314.post-71810045368744462832009-01-03T08:48:00.005-07:002009-01-03T09:16:23.191-07:00Molecular Pathology work party at Macaroni Grill
An excuse to dress up and go out w/o the kids is always nice!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
